That's my Girl!

For those of you that are parents you know not to miss a chance to brag about your kids. Well, Here I go. Monday afternoon while Callie an I were in the kitchen and the girls were out in the back riding their scooter and tricycle. The sliding glass door was open and the blinds pulled so we could see out back. As I was talking to callie the oldest. (kidlet is what callie calls her I think) ran to the door and yells "SHE FELL IN THE POOL". Both Callie and I run to the door as Kidlet runs to the pool and jumps in to save munchkin. The poor thing was scared to death and trying to stay a float. Kidlets grabbed her and pulled her to the edge in time for me to pull her out. All munchkin would say between sobs is "I couldn't breath". Needless to say. Kidlet was treat like the hero she was. The next morning while I was driving them to school. The news on the radio mention a little boy who fell in the family pool and died. The sixth one this year. Both my girls looked shocked when they heard the news. Callie and I are sooooo proud of kidlet. She has always tried to be a good big sister. Best of all, she didn't panic. Something I've always tried to teach both callie and the girls. I think I lost three buttons off my shirt due to the pride I feel for my oldest girl.

It's great that she knows those skills.

I'd say that you should be proud, but I know you already are. I'm proud too!

Callie and I could'nt be happier with the way each handled the situation. It may sound strange, but I'm not as worried as I was about how things will be when it's my turn to pass on.

We did'nt call the paper. I think kidlet was happier with all the attention she got. Not to mention the double scoop ice cream cone.

I LOVE HAPPY ENDINGS..I LIKE ICE CREAM TOO. IF I WOULD PUSH MY BROTHER IN THE POOL JUST TO GET THE ICE CREAM...DO YOU THINK MY PARENTS WOULD CATCH ON?
THAT IS HOW I USED TO GET AWAY FROM MY BROTHER. I'D DIVE IN THE DEEP END AND SWIM AWAY...HE COULDN'T SWIM. I MADE SURE ALL OF MY KIDS KNEW HOW..THEY ALL BECAME LIFE GUARDS. JUST ONE MORE GRAY HAIR LOWK..WAIT TILL THEY HAVE YOU RIPPING THEM OUT....

Way to go, kidlet! How brave and selfless that was! No wonder you're so proud.

Munchkin must be feeling serious love for that big sister of hers!

You SHOULD be proud!

I think the love has faded again. They started fighting again.
I sometimes wonder if kidlet pushed munchkin in.

Definitely pushed her in. But on the other hand she did save her, so it's sort of a wash...

They way those two fight. I wish someone would push me in and walk away. <(

Has she gotten to the point where's she's yelling at you too?

Oh, that's just sweet (he says sarcastically)

Congrats to the hero: Kidlet!

Is there a fence around your pool?

How about enrolling in swim lessons?

Just some safety ideas.

The swimming lessons are in the works. especially since the rain stopped. We don't have a fence but the a suggestion was made about putting piranah.
