Our yard

The 2nd pic is where we wanna put a small hut. To hide the pump n filter and to be used as a changing room with a porta-pot for the kids so they don't run back n forth through the house.
The area along the fence in the same pic is 14ft by 30ft.
Pic 3, in the foreground is an area about 16ft by 15ft 12ft. Kindda "L" shaped.
The Hot tub will go on the slab in pic 1. That is the "L" shaped area.
The narrow space along the fence (pic 2) is 3ft by 40ft.
I would like to put a quiet sitting area on the side of the house (in pic 4). Something that would hide the trash cans and recyclable. At some point in time we want a deck off the back of the house that has a door from the master bedroom and stairs to the backyard.
Well, thats it. Can you help us Mr./Mrs. Wizard??

Sounds good MD. The sun rises from the direction of pic 1. Where the Hot tub will be.

Lots and lots of trees!!! Also I love Motherdears firepit idea. Maybe in the area (pic 4) that you want to have for seating.

I don't have much advice, but I just wanted to say that you have a nice backyard, and your pool looks gorgeous! I'm jealous of how gorgeous it looks!

Good luck landscaping! Maybe a couple nice lounge chairs beside the pool would be nice. But it sounds like motherdear is going to give you some great advice, so I'll leave it to her. :)

The back yard doesn't get any shade from the house in any season. The area we live in?? Well, it was almond and walnut groves for the last 100 years.
The alcove is where we thought about a build-in Barbeque and a sitting area. The pumps and all will be enclosed in a "hut" an double as a changing room.
The fireplace idea is GREAT! maybe a fire-ring or something made from river rocks?? I like the cozier the better.
Stephanie, We'll put some lounge chairs out just for you. ;)
Dani, maybe we can fly you out here and you can help us pick a tree that will look good without to many leaves.

Lowk, Blogger messed up my site so I can't post anymore...got some pics up of pool and gardens before the dump...sorry I can't do more..Plant cactus, that will keep the neighbors at bay..I don't know what to plant except high palms to block prying eyes in the windows...or just enjoy the moment.

Nevermind! Back up and posting again.

I think your layout plans are pretty good. Can you consider something like a 2-level deck in the area of pic 4? just cover most of that area with a deck, then have an upper level off your bedroom (which I presume is above?)

Again, I'd need to sketch it out for ya...

Mossy that sound good. Although we are hoping to have the upper deck come off the back of the house. Thats where there is room for a door from the master bedroom. We'd luv to see a drawing to get a better idea though.

Lemme see what I can hack together for ya. I can't vouch for the accuracy of the sketch in relationship to your photos, but I'll see what I can come up with.

I'm out of town next week, but gimme a few, k?

Man, I'm jealous.

Are you gonna post pictures of the pool christening? LOL

Firepit sounds good, how's your town on outdoor fires? Some are crabby about it, might want to check it out first (anonymously, of course, so if they tell you you need a permit you can tell them to screw off and just do it anyway...)

Mossy, we'll be looking forward to it when you get the time. Thanks

Kal, we're good to go with the firepit. Even thinking of a built in Bar-be-que.

Mother, take your time the waters cold but the Hot tub is due tomarrow!!:D

Mark, we'll post this pic of the party to come but the rest will have to be sensored. MD, thats your job.
