Ever Notice?
Something just occurred to me today at work. I was told by my boss that We needed to get two more trucks started (that would make four in progress). This after he had told me he wanted two men per truck to get them done faster. (There is only five in my crew). I just shrugged and tried not to let the stupidity of the remark get to me. So I went out to finish what I started before bringing in the another truck. So, here I am, in the cold. Weather is cloudy and it's starting to sprinkle and I'm not happy. Then I notice that the 1000 gallon tanks sitting nearby are all white with green and red tape on the fittings. I see them all year long and today they actually look festive. Like the were done that way for Christmas. I honestly felt better and my attitude changed.
Funny what you notice when you need it most.

Ever wonder?
Since my move from L.A. in the late eighties. I've learned some very important things. Most of them have to do with my dad.
As a kid growing up the first few years were good. Everyone was happy and we had contact with the WHOLE family. Then when I turned 5 things changed. My happy home was gone. It started with my grandmother on my moms side being murdered in Mexico. Then My grandfather died. After that my mom developed breast cancer. Back then They just cut the whole thing off. They even took half a lung for good measure. It really screwed with her head.
But until recently I never thought about what my dad felt. Couple this with the house we lived in being somewhat haunted and I realized that my dads dream home was a curse. About this time I believe it was 1965 when the Watts riots occurred. Normally peaceful men that were fathers of my friend's and even my dad started carrying guns and taking turns patrolling the neighborhood. More than once while hunting I've thought about what it must've been like for a peaceful man like pop to carry a gun to protect his home. As kids we watched the fires and national guardsman from our garage roof.
My younger sister was born the next year. I thought about why and realized it happened probably for my mom who needed to feel like a whole woman. There were always fights between mom an pop. She constantly accused him of cheating. Two years later my mom died. Here is pop, a man who had to drop outta school at 13 to help support is mom, brother and sister. Now the woman he loved had made her last years with him miserable and and had left him with four children. One 2 years old.
When we needed pop the most to comfort us and reassure us, He dumped the youngest on his mom and went out every night to bars and strip joints. There were times when my older sister had to force me to eat creamed peas on toast because that's all we had for days at a time. My older brother ran the streets and ate at friends houses and left us to fend for ourselves. Now and then pops would come home with some slut or bar whore. But thank god it never lasted. When he did find one good woman he would come up with an excuse to dump her. I honestly believe he was trying to get my mom outta his head and heart. Not having much of a father figure himself (granddad was a drunk and a wife beater who died young) Dad had no idea what to do to be a good father.
He finally settled on Betty. For all that she was and was not. She made sure he had 3 squares a day and a clean house and clean clothes. Granted she worked us like slaves to make it that way and her kids (even though they were grown and married) got more than we did. The house was filled with constant yelling and tears from us. Pops never intervened. I guess he thought even a mean mother is better than no mother. This went on till 1972 when the family moved. All except my older brother. He was not invited. He was just 18. A year later my older sister ran away when she turned 17. I stayed another year and ran away at 14.
I spent a year bouncing from place to place till my brother told me to live with him and to finish school. We forged some names and I got into school. Later I was picked-up by the cops on weapons charges. When pop came to get me I made it clear that I would not live in the same house with that Bitch. The police were more than curious about why I didn't wanna go back. Pop just blew it off and took me to my bro's. When the youngest reached 16 she too left. He had now lost all his children because of her.
At times I wondered if he regretted everything that had happened or not. He never let on one way or the other. For the next few years it was upto me to keep the contact open with him. Ya know, holiday visits and just staying in touch. When I graduated from high school he genuinely seemed proud. Right after I asked him to sign the papers allowing me to join the Marines. I was seventeen. All he said was "are you sure?"
After I graduated from boot camp things seemed to be better between us. Pops honestly made an attempt at staying in touch. As time wore on I felt he wanted to be closer, but just didn't know how to go about it. But at least he was there whenever I needed him. Granted he didn't know how or what to say sometimes. But at least he tried. He even took the time to try an bail me outta jail at 3 a.m. and his car's electrical system burned in the police parking lot. And he still took my side in the whole affair. As for the years leading up to now. We've grown closer and I believe he misses the time we lost. But now we're 45o miles apart and our time is growing short.
I guess in his own way he helped make me stronger. Maybe it was intentional, maybe not. All I know is that thinking about him I'm able to recall all the good times, no matter how minor a lot easier than all the tears and anguish. Could it have turned out differently? If so, how?....................Makes me wonder.

Testing the lighting
Thought I'd post a quick blog on how things are going. Callie is TOO excited about breaking in the pool she just had to make sure pics would come out. ( that's not all that came out :o ) It looks to be a long and exciting time in this house for years to come. I think some kind of tree to block our neighbors view is in order. (That or charge for viewing and popcorn.)
there's an opening to join us for the party next spring. Drop us a line. ;) There are those that know they need no invite. You're always welcome ;)

Our yard
The 2nd pic is where we wanna put a small hut. To hide the pump n filter and to be used as a changing room with a porta-pot for the kids so they don't run back n forth through the house.
The area along the fence in the same pic is 14ft by 30ft.
Pic 3, in the foreground is an area about 16ft by 15ft 12ft. Kindda "L" shaped.
The Hot tub will go on the slab in pic 1. That is the "L" shaped area.
The narrow space along the fence (pic 2) is 3ft by 40ft.
I would like to put a quiet sitting area on the side of the house (in pic 4). Something that would hide the trash cans and recyclable. At some point in time we want a deck off the back of the house that has a door from the master bedroom and stairs to the backyard.
Well, thats it. Can you help us Mr./Mrs. Wizard??

Anyone with Style out there????
Well, the pool is full of water and things are looking good. The Hot Tub will be in by the end of the month. (under penalty of death) Now the work starts. And here's where all of you come in. Callie an I are not what some would call "people of style" meaning, we couldn't decorate a garage. Anyone have any ideas on how to landscape and decorate the backyard??? I'm open to anything (callie can attest to that).
So here is everyone's chance to put there decorating style to work. All suggestions will be considered. Thanks.

A Solid reply to a Mushy Blog
As callie said, we met at the junior college in an aerobics class. As for being the gentleman! Yeah Right, If it wasn't for the tight workout shorts I would've been sporting a full blown command tent. And as for the sparkling eyes! Any mans eyes would sparkle in a room full and women dressed in tight revealing clothes. True we've had good and bad times. Everyone does. But I promised to love and honor. (one of the easiest promises I've had to keep) The problems lately were started by me and compounded by both of us. We resolved the issue when she started faking 4 or 5 orgasm a night so I wouldn't feel bad. I didn't want her to feel bad either so I fake 1 or 2 just to keep it real.
Honestly though, I've never know any woman who was able to make me forget all the others that crossed my path. Her kisses brought back the shakes, just like when we first met.
I have many regrets in my life. Some are the worst imaginable. But The ones I want and will try to rectify. Are the times I made Callie cry.

That went over like a busted rubber
It seems that either nobody read my last blog or they did'nt care for it. Not a remark! At least Callie knows it in fun and how I feel about the whole thing.
Anyway, not too much happening here but The warm weather. Hopefully it'll keep up so we can use the pool when its done. I"m hop[ing we can have my B-day party christening the pool. With luck we'll set a new standard in low-life behavior. I'll keep you posted and for those in close you'll get pics. (the good ones)

9/11
Since there have been a few post about where and what folks were doing when the attacks occurred. I thought I'd mention something I did when I found out about it.
To begin with, I'm a former marine (for those that don't know). The unit I belonged to was limited to about 100 men world wide. Nothing too special, but the life expectancy for us during combat was about 8 seconds once the shooting started. Anyway, When I heard on the radio what was happening on my way to work. I immediately thought, WAR! Later I decided to have alittle fun and have a friend from work call our house an leave a message saying that he was a major in the adjutant Generals office at camp Pendleton and that they want me to contact them because I was being recalled to active duty. I was to report as soon as possible. When Callie heard that, the look on her face was priceless. It was worth the beatings for sure. She didn't know what to say. She knew my unit was unique but WOW!I had a hard time keeping a straight face. Later she called the number my friend left an realized it was a joke. Tonight when I told her I wanted to post it that looked returned.
Had to be one of my better jokes. :D

Honey! I'm Home
Hi all. Sorry I haven't been around much. I try to read everyone's blog's but when time is short. Anyway, I've been trying to think of something interesting to blog about but not much is going on. There is one thing that keeps coming back to me. But since I'm not the writer type I hesitate to start it. But some young friend of mine said I should blog what I feel and be happy so here it goes..
I think it was around 1990 or so there was a whole bunch of sigthings of the Virgin Mary all over the world. One of them happened to be here in California not far from Sacramento. At the insistence of a friend who was very religious you just wanted to slap her I decided to go see for myself. I decided to spend the night in the parking lot so I would be the first one in and get a good seat. It was really cold then December or January I think. But being the rugged outdoorsman I am I was bundled up like a newborn babe. Around 10pm some guy came around. He was just looking around then came up to talk with me. He didn't look like a threat. Kind of medium frame not to street wise looking so I didn't have to do any posturing. Anyway he went on an on about religion and how he thought it was a hoax. All the while he kept saying I should stay at his place so I wouldn't have to sleep outside. Normally I would've thought he was coming on to me but something didn't seem right. After I started to get firmer in my "No Thank You" he said lets look inside the church and see if there was anything going on. I said "it's late and the doors are locked." Then He said something that has stuck with me for years. " He we have faith the doors will be open" then he made that gesture like a faith healer, ya know head back, eyes closed and then he pulled the door handles. Like I said they were locked. After that he made one last attempt to get me to leave. Then He was gone.
In the morning the people started gathering and then the doors opened. After a certain amount of praying (like Catholics do) the apparition appeared. At first I was skeptical. I checked the direction of the sunshine and the position of the stain glass windows. Unless someone had hidden projectors and a mission impossible theme song it had to be real. When it was gone folks were talking and some said the saw the Holy Mother in detail. Others said they didn't. What I saw was Beautiful to say the least but I could not make out a face. Just a distinct shape of a woman's upper body and facial outline. I"m not the religious type but something that day happened to me. My point of view changed and I became more of a believer than an indoctrinated catholic.
I have had lot's of encounters with the supernatural and now the spiritual. My mother in her last years became obsessed with such things. Since then my whole family (those of us that lived in the house with her) have had more than our share of these types of encounters. Is it possible that mom inadvertently opened something or passed something on to us by accident? I hope I'm wrong. I hope all that has happened and all I've seen is just part of life. (Or death)

Busier than a one legged dog with fleas
Just a quick update. We bought a hot tub this weekend at the state fair. So now I have to pour a 10ft x 10ft cement slab. At that to the fence post I have to break free from the cement that was ruined by the pool diggers and the cem,ent sitting area in the front of the house. At least I wont have to pour cement like I planned in front of the gate. I just got to level the dirt, put up a few trees and relocate one small tree and re plant grass. At least it's hunting season. Can't go hunting but I can dream. :) Gotta run, I'm running into my six hours of sleep I get a night.

Serves me right
A few days ago I received an e-mail from some very special. They asked me to forward it to others and the more I sent it to the better things would get. Well, I sent it off to a whole lotta people. And guess what? Things changed. While doing a repair at work on a particularly dirty truck I was interrupted to do an inspection on a truck that had just come in. Normally these inspections become nightmares fast. This was smooth and quick. Problem was, I left two wrenches on the back as it drove off. One mine the other the shops. No sweat, I know where he's heading an he can drop them off on the way home. I call his shop and they say he's already on his way home. Bullshit! I know he had one stop to make and it's impossible to get there that fast. His office says, " Oh well". I say, "fine I'll drive 150 miles and pick them up. Now I'm pissed. As I resume work on the repair, road dirt and grease start falling on me continuously. And As I am putting fresh tranny fluid in it the valve slips and shoots fluid in my face. Then Callie calls and says that kidlet didn't get into the after school program so I need to pick her up further away. Not at practice Callie informs me that this little mistake will cost about 500.00 extra a month. To top it off as I'm bringing kidlet home I find the some plastic was smeared on the pipes of my new bike. Now that I'm home I'm praying nothing else goes wrong. I thought Things were suppose to get better. I feel like I've been shot at an missed and shit at an hit!

Another good time!
Well our oldest had her B-day this weekend and we all went to a water park on Saturday. It was my first time there and I loved it. Something about being wet an sliding in a tube just made me happy. I didn't get a chance to go on all the slides because munchkin dominated my time and DEMANDED we repeatedly go on the same slides in the kiddy area. But I did enjoy myself and making her happy is what I'm here for anyway. Kidlet had a friend along so they took off and aside from getting to go on a slide with them, I was pretty much left outta the loop. I"m hoping to get a chance to go without the kids some evening so Callie an I can have some fun and be kids again. I also took kidlet on her longest motorcycle ride yet to get her soccer stuff. As expected I spent too much on her but I"m allowed. I'm the Daddy. The weekend would've been expensive but I just happened to sell my 1980 750 Honda and we actually made 400.00 after the all was said an done. Not bad , huh? I would luv to get a few couples together and go to the water park and then out party'in after. A fun adult night out. Anyone care to join us????

Damn near done!
Wow, whatta week. I started working O.T. and that means up at 3:15 every morning and work till 4pm. Today however I get to do something different. I get to work a side job (just for the day) and make some quick cash. (hopefully a lot) Actually this could possibly be the first step in opening my own Propane repair shop. I mentioned this to Callie years ago but we both seem to be a lil apprehensive about taking the leap. Since I've been back with the old shop I've made lotsa new contacts an have had lots of good responses for customers about some of my ideas. I just hope I can get this job done quickly. I think Callie doesn't like the idea of me not coming straight home on a Friday. But if things go well it'll come in handy. Bug weekend planned and the extra $$$ will be welcome. Oh well, time for coffee and then out the door.
P.S. Jessica and Dani, we pick the tiles for the pool next week. :D

Scary Movies
I don' know if this will be said right, after I"m not a writer. What I"m about to write has been a part of my life since I was a young kid. And at times has been responsible for the way I picked my apartments, firearms, and in one case my first house.
OK, here it goes. Back when I was a kid my folks took me to the drive-in. At least I think I was the only child to be taken. I don't remember my sis or bro being there. Anyway, the movie was Night of the Living Dead. I was just 9 yrs old back in '68. I remember sitting in the back of the 56 Chevy scared to death. I would freak out every time someone would walk by the car. That movie gave me nightmares for years. (Ask Callie) The fear of what the movie depicted was not enough. A month or so later my mother died. I had never seen a dead body before and seeing my mom laid out there scared me half to death. It seems that any little thing that would remind me of that movie would set off a week or so of nightmares. When I was old enough I learn how to use any firearm I could find and use it well. The marines made it clear that ammo can be picked up easy enough if you just kill your enemy and take their weapons. After military life I had to make sure I was always safe so every apartment I had was easily defendable. With just a little effort I could hole up safely. I have tried lotsa different ways to get over this fear in the back of my head. All the other movies that have come along have'nt effected me the way the first one did. Callie, at my insistence brought home the latest version of Dawn of the Dead. The original put the idea in my head that supplies will be needed along other living needs. Callie was less than thrilled to hear I wanted to see the movie. Finally she broke down and rented it. That movie had the one thing that brought back the original fears. The living dead moved just like normal folks. No rigga, they were fast and ran when they chased their victims. Now it seems that these old fears of mine come flooding back depending on which way I go to work. The hwy by the house has losta folks commuting, the back road (which is faster) is dark, lonely and very eerie. I must admit that with all this I have managed to live with the realization that I'm wacked. I guess movies have more of an impact on the young than I would've guessed. Now that I'm older and have kids of my own I'm more aware of what they see and what I'll let them see. Besides, Callie would've never liked the gun belt with a loaded revolver hanging on the bed post or a rifle or shotgun by the door. Not sure why I wanted to post this lil bit of info, but I recently have been taking the back road to work. Boo
